Götz Östlind

Biography

Götz Östlind (*1977) completed private studies in piano with Gisela Stumme, a former student of Conrad Hansen (Hansen was a student of Edwin Fischer, who, in turn, was taught by Martin Krause. Martin Krause learned the art of piano playing from Franz Liszt).

After completing his A-levels, Götz Östlind, studied Applied Cultural Sciences and Business Management. He was awarded his doctoral degree with a thesis on »Counterpoint in Film Music«.

The prize winner of the piano competition run by »Klassik Radio«, composed besides TV commercial music and movie scores 25 lyrical, dreamlike and also dramatic, impulsive works for his double album »The Quiet & The Storm«.

During an appearance on Europe’s most popular television show »Wetten, dass..?« Götz Östlind successfully demonstrated his perfect pitch many times in a row. He correctly named four simultaneously sounding tones played on the piano and was the winner of the audience’s vote. It was followed by national and international show performances with concerts in China and Japan.

David Harrington and Götz Östlind play concerts on two Grand pianos as »David & Götz - The Showpianists« around the world – always a captivating show with humorous presentations and interactive entertainment. All concert dates and the CD »An zwei Flügeln!« with works from Classic to Pop and Musical to Swing are available on www.showpianisten.com.
